MY REVIEW:

HOLY MOLY!!! That was good!!! In book three we get to know more about Piper and see her developing into her powers. Grizz is still my favorite (just because he’s so funny and truly cute) I absolutely love how Amber Lynn developed his character. After reading book two I wasn’t sure how big of a roll Grizz would play in book three. I love how his attitude and the fact he is so protective of Piper. The moments with Grizz talking back and or taking his guardian roll very serious was both humorous and cute. Kat is still the smarta$$ bestfriend I think everyone needs in their life. We do get answers to questions I’ve asked myself as well as many readers have asked before when book two ended. I look forward to reading more from Amber Lynn Natusch!

About Amber Lynn Natusch

Amber Lynn Natusch is the author of the bestselling Caged, as well as the Light and Shadow series with Shannon Morton. She was born and raised in Winnipeg, and speaks sarcasm fluently because of her Canadian roots. She loves to dance and sing in her kitchen—much to the detriment of those near her—but spends most of her time running a practice with her husband, raising two small children, and attempting to write when she can lock herself in the bathroom for ten minutes of peace and quiet. She has many hidden talents, most of which should not be mentioned but include putting her foot in her mouth, acting inappropriately when nervous, swearing like a sailor when provoked, and not listening when she should. She’s obsessed with home renovation shows, should never be caffeinated, and loves snow. Amber has a deep-seated fear of clowns and deep water…especially clowns swimming in deep water.

REVIEW~ Annihilation by B.C. Burgess

REVIEW:
I think it’s okay to admit I’m obsessed with this series!!!! Book 8 had everything I had wished and hoped for in it and more. I keep expecting to eventually not to be surprised by the turn of the events that unravels in each book and it just doesn’t happen. B.C. Burgess keeps me on the edge of my seat only anticipating something big coming but not able to guess what she has planned. Boy oh boy did a lot happen in book eight. In book seven we found a little on Layla being the Earth Angel and after finishing book seven I was dying to learn more. Thankfully the author answered my prayers and expanded on what Layla being the Earth angel actually meant. Along with a backstory we also get more Layla and Quin interaction (cue the jumping up and down) that had my heart beating a mile a minute and not even for a second wanting to put the book down.

One of my favorite aspects of B.C. Burgess’s writing is her words while reading through each book spark emotion within me. I can’t even count the numerous tears I shed throughout this series. Five stars for a fantastic read!

The battle to save her family, herself, and stop demonic domination may cost Aurora everything worth living for, and force her to reveal her own dark secrets. But no worries. She needs the Hex Boys to pull this off, and, chances are, teaming up with these guys will get her killed anyway.

Review

Aurora is a seventeen-year teen who can see demons. She moves back to a town where she used to live when she was younger because an incident happened. She ends up starting to be hunted by demons and she doesn’t know why. When she ends up back in this town she ends up be of catching the attention a guy who happens to be part of a group of friends who are known as The Hex Boys. People in their high school don’t know much about the Hex Boys because they stay to their group.
This is not a prophecy book. Actually, there were people before her that who was like her but actually happen to be male. She is the first female to be what you will find out if you read.
I love the characters in this book especially. The Hex Boys definitely have their own personalities. I love the interaction between Matthias and Aurora. To me their interaction is humorous. A secondary character that I love is Aurora mum. She is one of those fierce protective mothers. There is a part in the book where you see a humorous side to that. Gloria is a character who I find enjoyable to read.
I love this book. It is so enjoyable to read. The series is definitely a series to continue. I found it humorous and laughed many times. It is a fun read. I highly recommend this book. I give it a 5/5 rating. Finally, have to say this is a bonus. There are food recipes in the back. So don’t stop at the end of the story.

SHE HAS BEEN HIDDEN AWAY.
Now she is choosing to use her power.
It is not a peaceful time in the Dells. In King City, the young King Nash is clinging to the throne, while rebel lords in the north and south build armies to unseat him. War is coming. And the mountains and forest are filled with spies and thieves. This is where Fire lives, a girl whose beauty is impossibly irresistible and who can control the minds of everyone around her.
Everyone...except Prince Brigan

Review

Fire is a prequel novel to Graceling I will like to say first. You don’t have to read Graceling first. This book is an intriguing. It has war, romance, mystery, and coming out of one's shell and self-acceptance. The plot and idea of the story are so enjoyable to read. When I began reading this, I was caught right away because of the opening scene of the chapter. I didn’t want to stop reading it. So I read it nonstop, and it kept my attention the whole time. The book’s setting definitively helps the story. The warring factions and who they try to recruit. Even though this is not historical fiction, it has that more 18th-century technology and setup of government as an absolute monarch. Though, not all the culture is like the 18th century. Such as women being a part of the military, and they are more equal like in recent times. The Dellian people have their language and culture. For funerals, they burn the bodies and sing what is called the Dellian Lament. There are the main antagonist's plot and the secondary antagonist's plot that intertwine but are separate.

I love the characters. Especially Fire and Brigan. I love how Fire started out with self-doubt and no acceptance of her being a human monster. I love how she over time through the war she starts accepting the fact that she is a human monster and that doesn’t mean she has to be evil. She starts out not wanting to use her abilities for the war but over time she realizes that she can use the abilities of a human monster to help the war. I love Brigan even though he was cold in the beginning. The other characters are amazing and are well developed. They were entertaining to read. They had me laugh, and they had me frown.

I highly recommend this book. Especially those who love Fantasy genre and the Romance genres. There are times when sex is implied, but it is not explicit. So that is why I would categorize this in Teen. It is still a wonderful read, and I also recommend it to adults too. This book definitely categorizes as a favorite for me. Hope you give this a chance.

Keep your friends close...and your enemies closer.

Rachel Clancy has had to learn the hard way that you can't always trust who you know.

Born with a specific set of genes that lets her fight monsters, Rachel has trained her entire life to kill vampires and werewolves. Unprepared for the level of deception and betrayal she faces as she journeys Upwards to battle her enemies, it's not long before Rachel finds herself on a quest that will alter the lives of everyone she knows.

Including Rachel's...

Review

Sixteen-year-old Warrior Rachel Clancy lives in a post-apocalyptic world where humankind was almost wiped out thirty years before she was born because of werewolves and vampires. This end of the world moment is known as Armageddon. In this apocalyptic world, some humans have a special gene, and these Warriors are relied on to kill these monsters and keep the non-Warrior human safe. Rachel was supposed to go out with others her age but was gets sent out on an unprecedented Upward. The Upward that is unprecedented happens because of Dr. Isaac Icahn who suggested it. He's known and viewed as the man who saved humankind from dying out by discovering the Warrior gene. Rachel was expected to die from this Upward which was a revenge plan for Dr. Isaac Icahn because Rachel’s father allowed Isaac’s daughter to die. While Rachel is out, she gets, attacked by some vampires. She was about to die when a werewolf kills the vampires. She ends up making it to her destination but ends up being knocked out. She wakes up to a handsome werewolf and one of his sisters. While Rachel is with her is with these werewolves she starts questioning if werewolves are really the enemy. She also learns that someone she knows might actually be the one behind Armageddon.

I am first going to state the ONLY thing that almost stopped me from continuing. First, I want to say is that I was almost not going to finish because I liked the main love interest and at one point I thought I wouldn’t be happy with the way it was going. Though I am so happy I continued to read it because I ended up wanting the main love interest to be someone else. I had a feeling the person who I am rooting for now would be a potential and I, am so happy they are. That was the only reason why I would want to stop, but I loved every other moment.

The main character Rachel I like as a character, but her only flaw is that she is naive when it comes to love. Being naive usually bothers me but she is only sixteen so, it didn’t bother me as much. Actually, I think it helped the story in a way with how it ended and also it showed that she still has much to learn and grow as a character. Not just a sixteen-year-old who doesn’t have much room to grow and learn as a character. Now onto Jason the main love interest. In the beginning, I rooted for him and at one point was worried that they wouldn’t be together. Though I got to a point, when I stopped rooting for him, and I was hoping she wouldn’t want to be with him. I am now rooting for someone else, and his name is Chad, who I can’t wait to see more of in the next book. For Dr. Isaac, I don’t like him, and I will never like him as a person. Though I do like him as the antagonist and I do wish to see more of him. There are other characters I can go on about but I won’t.

I love the idea of this post-apocalyptic world and the story that goes with it. I definitely want to continue this story, and I hope to see more action and romance too. I think Rebecca Royce did an awesome job on this and I think she did an awesome way to end this book of Rachel’s story. When I am about to stop I usually don’t get pulled back in but with this book, I ended up pulled back in, and I want more.

I am honest when I write my reviews, and I give this book five stars. You might be wondering why I might be giving five stars even though my opinions of Rachel and what caused me almost to stop. Well, the reason why is because to me being naive is a necessity and I actually liked it because Rachel’s character should be naive in some category of her life. She is 16 and love should be the category. Then the relationship with Jason I was able to be pulled back in which is an accomplishment. Since usually when I check out I am out. So those two accomplishments give the rating bonus points. So excited to continue.

The stakes have never been higher, for if Harper's taken by this new threat, Knox won't be able to stop his demon from taking a vicious pleasure in tearing the world apart . . .

Review

In this book Knox and Harper have to find out who is after Harper and tried to take her wings. They think it could possibly be a horseman behind the attacks. Harper is also coping with the fact that she killed her half-brother from in book two. To add to that they end up finding out about a changeling who they think he is dangerous and strange. When someone starts going after not just Harper but also her family members too things they start questioning if Harper is really the target. People are expecting the two remaining horsemen to lie low for a while but with what is going on they don’t know if a horseman is behind the attacks or not. When Harper and Knox find out something about Harper, the ensurance of her safety is more important than ever.
The characters are enjoyable as ever and badass too. Can’t forget to mention that Know is sexy as ever too. Harper is still her independent self but in this book she takes some steps back and listens to Knox more but for reasons that she realizes that she should do that. The villain in this book was someone who I didn’t expect and I was thinking of possible people. Usually I expect the unexpected villain.
I give this book 5 stars. I loved reading every minute of it and can’t wait for the next book. I just hope the next book isn’t the last. I had no issues with this book. Think this is so far the best in the series. Suzanne Wright didn’t let me down with this one.

About the Author:

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That's why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy--she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she's also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books--romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it's a passion...there's a difference. Not that she'd expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

But, when circumstance takes over and Nerys is given a spirit guide, she finds that being a daimon is not what the legends and old stories proclaim it to be. It's not heroic or glamorous.

It's terrifying.

When betrayal shatters the budding romance between Nerys and her protectors, someone must pay the price.

Morgan's life changes when she discovers her true fate. Not only must she pick a mate from one of her five guardians she also must prepare for an impending battle. Her days are spent between training, study and exploring the men she will choose from.

Life isn't easy when you're the Queen.

Ebony Rising is the second book in the Raven Queen's Harem.

Review by co-blogger Kayla Erickson

Review:
Absolutely loved part two! Just like part one I was enthralled from the first page.

We learn more about Morgan and the Darkness that threatens. We learn more about her men and how they came to be. We watch Morgan's feelings for each of her Guardians strengthen and her struggle with which one to choose as a mate. It's so well written you can practically feel the love she has for the ravens as well as feel her despair at having to choose one. I cannot wait to get my hands on part 3.

Review

I loved, loved, loved THIS!!! The story had the Greek gods and goddesses aspect but also had romance. I could not put this down for the life of me I quickly found out how addicting Staci Hart’s book are! This is my first novel of hers and can now say I am a fan for LIFE!

The story mix between Greek mythology and romance was perfect. Chapter one opens with the God’s and Goddesses making bets on just who will win the competition. I found the dialogue between Ares and Ditta to be comical just thinking if this were to actually happen. I was weary at first with there being two romance stories in one book. I’m usually the one to ignore those types of books as they only seem to leave me in confusion. Staci Hart knew what she was doing though because I couldn’t find a moment where I was agitated with the two story plots or getting bored in fact I was only left craving for more!

The second relationship in Shift is the God’s human player competition picks (Staci explains it so much better in her book) which sounds complicated but it’s not. Now Kat and Dillon are absolutely my favorite characters out of this whole story! Dillon and Kat are two people that don’t expect anyone to come to their rescue. After watching the initial meeting between the pair I quickly saw the duo as a perfect match.

Shift is a must read even if you are a Staci Hart virgin, like I was, or a Staci Hart crazed fan don’t pass up reading this it was amazing!

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife, though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
