Ashes was dark and it was gritty. I feel like with each book it's only going to get better. With book two we see Aria take the reigns more of her monster as she knows the monster who's hunting her will not stop to give her a chance to catch her breath. This for me showed she was growing into her character. I can't wait to see how she continues to grow. I would like to see in the next book Knox show his monster instead of hearing the rattling all the time. I'm tired of the rattling at this point show me the monster. Let me see what hides behind the mask. Overall 5 stars for the emotions Amelia was able to bring out of me. I was wanting to throw my kindle across the room SEVERAL times. He really is a monster when you just want to smack him upside the head and shake some sense into him. I'm hoping the next book we get to meet her father also this whole not knowing her roots also is nerve wrecking.
